You can contact Housing Benefits section on 020 8583 4242. You can also apply for Housing Benefit online via the Hounslow Council website.

If you are having difficulty paying your rent and are not already on housing benefit, you may be entitled to claim.

You can apply for housing benefit by completing a form and handing it into your local housing office or Revenue Services at the Civic Centre. We will give you a receipt as proof that you have handed in the form.

You must complete all relevant sections of the form and provide copies of proofs of household income and savings details. Please try to keep a copy for your own records as this makes it easier to track any problems.

It is your responsibility to inform revenue services if your income or family circumstances change in any way. Your benefit may be adjusted if your earn more money or if you earn less money.

All local housing offices have housing benefit staff available to deal with claims. The Brentford housing office has a housing benefit officer available on Thursday, 9am to 5pm and Friday (appointments only), 9am to 4.45pm.

If you make a claim for Housing Benefit, contact the Customer Service Centre as soon as possible. They will update your rent account with the information. If you have made a claim and are awaiting for a decision or for a payment (which will be made directly to your rent account) you should continue to make payments to your rent account, even if it is not the full amount. This will stop high arrears on your rent account that you may still be liable for. We can then take your pending claim into consideration when we are monitoring your rent account/any arrears

Contact the Customer Service Centre on 0800 085 65 75, the Customer Service Centre is open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday. You can also check the location and opening times of your local housing office by visiting the Housing Contacts page

You must tell Revenue Services as soon as there is a change in your circumstances. If you don't, it may mean that you have been overpaid Benefit and you will have to pay it back.
