Domestic violence is violence within the household. It is an abuse of power which includes:
- Threats of violence
- Actual violence
- Sexual violence
- Emotional cruelty
- Psychological and mental abuse
- Stalking
All councils have a statutory duty under current legislation to assist persons fleeing domestic violence.
In an emergency you can seek shelter in a refuge or Hounslow Homes can arrange temporary accommodation while they get more information. This may be followed by permanent accommodation.
View our Domestic Violence leaflet for more information and contact numbers.
If you need to speak to one of our officers about domestic violence you can visit your local housing reception and speak to someone in person (in a private room).
