About the project
The council, Hounslow Homes and Lovell (our development Partner) are developing regeneration proposals for the Heston area, that include the provision of new private, affordable rented and low cost home ownership properties. We believe that a mix of different ownership options brings real benefits to the Heston area. In addition, the income from the sale of private properties enables us to build new affordable rented homes and provide environmental and community improvements.
The work will be phased for the six proposed sites across the Heston area and will take around three years to complete from August 2008.
Affordable rented accommodation
Proposals include a number of new social rented properties on the estate and in the Heston area. If you are a tenant with an existing transfer application (due to significant overcrowding or specific need) one of these new homes may be suitable for you. However, tenants should bear in mind that demand is high and there is no guarentee that any bid made will be successful.
Low Cost Home Ownership
Local residents may be interested in purchasing a property through the low cost home ownership scheme known as 'Lovell Choice'. Hounslow residents can purchase a percentage share in a new property. Ownership of the remaining share will be held by Hounslow Homes. No rent is payable on the remaining share, the owner is responsible for maintenance of the property.
We retain an interest in the property. If you decide to sell, the property must be offered first to another council nominee interested in the scheme - this avoids the involvement of estate agents.
You can increase your share of the property until you own it outright, or sell the property without having 100% ownership.
Private Sale Properties
A number of the properties in our proposals will be offered for outright sale. Existing residents who are able to buy on the open marked may be offered a discount by Lovell for an early reservation should these proposals go ahead.
Estate Regeneration Update August 2008
Consultation has begun with residents on the Heston Farm and Brabazon Road. Both projects have been refined as a result of resident and London Borough of Hounslow member consultation. Planners will also be consulted before these projects are further developed.
The schemes at Heston will also involve environmental improvements on each of the affected estates as well as Hogarth Court Sheltered Unit.
Improvements works to Heston Farm Community Hall and at Hogarth Court will proceed ahead of the new build, however, the bulk of regeneration works will still be delivered in co-ordination with the new build project.
