About the Project
The Beavers Estate and Clements Court will benefit from a regeneration and redevelopment following a successful bid for funds from Hounslow Council and Hounslow Homes. A total of £5.6 million has been allocated to the project from the London Housing Board Area Renewal Fund.
The council has approved Hounslow Homes as its preferred developer and we will be working with United House.
This area was chosen as there are four blocks at Beavers Lane that have significant structural problems that would be very expensive to try to repair.
The new scheme will provide new affordable and privately owned homes and improve the local area from Beavers Lane to Clements Court.
The total cost will be £29m. £21m of that amount will come from the private sector through the sale of new homes, £5.6m from the Area Renewal Fund and the remaining £2.5m will come from the Council.
Improvements that will be carried out include:
- Demolition of four blocks/72 dwellings
- New homes that will be a mixture of flats and houses including 94 new affordable homes for rent and low cost home ownership
- New community facilities at Clements Court
- Improved lighting, parking and boundaries to design out crime and anti-social behaviour
- Improved sound and heat insulation and other external works at Clements Court
Latest news July 2008
Planning approval has been granted and contracts now need to be finalised for Board approval. Land transfer and grants will be needed for this project. Depending on this approval, it is possible works may begin later this year. Tenants in the affected blocks will need to register on Locata for a transfer off the estate or to a new home within the development.
