Gardens win prizes The winners of this year's gardening competition were awarded their prizes on the 19th August at the Winter Gardens, Spring Grove House, Hounslow.
This year, we received three-times more entries than previous years which meant that the organisers could not visit every garden. Instead, the judges looked at all the photographs entered and shortlisted ten gardens to visit in person. From these ten, they narrowed down the final five winners and five runners up. Best balcony/baskets: Winner: Howard Burrows, Chiswick (above) Runners up: Joan Saunders, the residents of Bensington Court Best sheltered housing/communal area: Winner: Jim Ruff, Fenn House (above) Runners up: Sydney Hall, the residents of Greenham House Best garden: Winner: Arthur Howe, Brentford (above) Runner up: Ursula Runke, Brentford Best overall entry across all categories Jack Keen, Brentford (above) Best hand drawn picture: Georgia Wukovich,age 9, Hanworth (above) |
