Hounslow gardening competition “best ever”

says Hounslow Homes’ Chair.

The winners of this year’s annual gardening competition were announced in a ceremony on Thursday 19th August.

Cash prizes of between £50 and £250, certificates and framed photographs were awarded to the following residents -

Best Garden:

Mr Arthur Howe, Clayton Crescent,Brentford

Best Sheltered Housing/communal area:

Mr Jim Ruff, Fenn House

Best Balcony / Baskets:

Mr Howard Burrows, Middlesex Court, Chiswick

Best Overall Entry:

Mr I J Keen, Hornbeam Crescent, Brentford

Best Hand drawn picture:

Georgia Wukovich, Main Street, Hanworth

Alf Chandler, on behalf of the judges, gave praise to the contestants:

“There’s no doubt that this year’s contestants had the hardest job of all competing against over three times more entries than we normally receive. The gardens we awarded prizes to demonstrated excellence in visual impact, ingenuity and overall appeal and were a true reflection of dedicated and skillful gardeners. We’re delighted that so many green fingered people did get involved as it hopefully means that whilst we’re making improvements to their homes, the community as a whole can also benefit from better-looking estates.”
