London has a rich history of producing many notable individuals and Marylebone, in the north-west of the capital, is no exception.
The affluent area, located between Oxford Street and Regent’s Park, is perhaps most famous for being the home to fictional detective Sherlock Holmes, a character created by Sir Author Conan Doyle who is famed for his investigative work.
Holmes, along with his sidekick Dr Watson, is known to generations of readers and was recently brought back into the public consciousness by the BBC television series Sherlock, starring Benedict Cumberbatch. A Hollywood movie featuring Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law was also released in 2022, with a sequel currently in the works.
